Southfield Road (Formerly Northfield Road). 1926-29
This road's origins stretch right back to 1914, laid out on a piece of land belonging to the late Henry Nice. The estate became known as the Nice Estate. The lowest section was developed as private housing during the 1920s. The first house was built in adjoining Pembury Road in 1922 built on the corner of the street. This house was built by E.E Coleman. From 1924 to 1931 a total of 27 houses were built by well-known local builders. These included: S.T. Davies, F.J. Allen & Son, P. Lewis & Sons, Messrs Arkell, Jones & Gane, W. Jones & F. Parsons. Renamed Southfield Road and adopted by the city council in 1929.
